Questionnaire Terminology Explained

Here, you will find most frequently used terms when talking about questionnaires and concepts used in Games User Research (GUR) alongside their definitions. Though there are many ways to define these, so we cannot claim a complete view.

Convergent Validity

Refers to the degree to which two measures of constructs that theoretically should be related, are in fact related. Convergent validity, along with discriminant validity, are a sub-type of construct validity.

Internal Consistency

An approach used to gauge how well a survey (or a test) is measuring what it is designed to measure. This measure is based on the correlations between different items on the same test (or the same subscale on a larger test). It measures whether several items that propose to measure the same general construct produce similar scores. One of the most widely used test for internal consistency is Cronbach's Alpha.

Subscales

A measure based on the correlations between different items on the same test (or the same subscale on a larger test). It measures whether several items that propose to measure the same general construct produce similar scores.
